Wedding Show Frenzy

I have a wedding show coming up in a few weeks time and so things are hectic with that also. It is a huge wedding show, the largest show in Scotland. It is my first time at this one so I have no idea what to expect. I would like my stand to look like a sweet shop or cake shop so will take glass cake stands and perhaps put pink paper on the stand walls. I will then decorate with my felt chocolate wedding favours in pretty boxes and even have a few large cake centrepiece creations. I am looking forward to it really, but there just never seems to be enough time to do everything I would like! Oh, well better get on ........

Busy, Busy, Busy

I am going to have another really busy week this week as I have to finish some work for the The Lighthouse in Glasgow - Autumn Showcase. I made a new collection of work for them that is made of oxidised silver, fet and lace. I delivered it all last week but it requires a few finishing touches to make it complete. This week, I am finishing some work for the RBSA in Birmingham which is hosting an exhibition called Victoriana. I think it will be a gorgeous exhibition of work. I am working on a newsletter to send out to people on my mailing list. This will include updates of exhibitions and events I am attending.

New Start

Hello everyone, this is my new daily blog which helps me communicate with the outside world. To introduce myself, I am a UK designer maker who works on my own to create beautiful objects and jewellery. I like to work with a variety of materials including hand made felt, vintage lace, threads, silver, leather and gemstones. I am very inspired by environments and places, colours and textures. I studied at Glasgow School of Art, Scotland. My Degree Show was based on the traditions of taking Afternoon Tea. This led me to create unusual jewellery and objects for the home such as felt cakes and vintage boxes of felt chocolates. (www.suzanne-smith.co.uk).This has now developed into weddings also and I make little cakes and chocolates for wedding favours. (www.suzannesmithdesign.co.uk) I really love making things, collecting, storing and displaying items I have found at home and abroad. My favourite places are Paris, London and New York. I always find these cities to be full of inspiration. I intend to write a little each day to update what I am doing with my work and the progress that I have made.
